Alexandra Henrikson broke into screenwriting in 2019 with her comedy pilot National Parker, based on her real life rejection from Yellowstone National Park - FYI wolves are not "basically the same" as huskies. The show sold to WB Studios and FreeForm; it was executive produced by Jenna Fischer. This year, her border-horror feature Bone Mother was optioned by Balcony9 and she recently wrote a half-hour pilot about Instagram Witches for Concordia Studios. She has multiple titles in development. Having lost her father at a young age, her work often deals with choosing life in the face of death. And the empowerment that heroes, especially women, claim when they confront the unknown.
Holding an MFA from Yale and BFA from NYU, she has worked as a professional actress for the past 15 years; appearing on Broadway in Larry David’s Fish in the Dark, as well as premiering plays in theaters across the country including Steve Martin’s Meteor Shower and Martyna Majorck's Ironbound. She was directed by Taika Waititi and Jermaine Clement on What We Do In The Shadows and acted opposite Emma Stone in Netflix's Maniac directed by Cory Joji Fukunaga.
As a writing coach, Alexandra has mentored countless aspiring writers, sharing her knowledge and experience in the entertainment industry as she helps them find their voices and community. She is known for her humorous teaching style, ability to build community and her expert knowledge character driven structure. Her goal is to help her students find their voices by bringing their unique perspectives to their work and telling the unhelpful voices in their heads "thanks, but no thanks." Throughout her career, Alexandra has been dedicated to empowering women in the entertainment industry and continues to inspire and support emerging female writers.
In her free time she plays a Dragonborn Barbarian named Rooster on Twitch as a member of Dungeons and Dragons party The Familiars.
